Wolfbox G900 Pro Dashcam Review & Install (ND Miata)
If you drive a small car like an ND1 Miata, you already know the feeling. You’re low to the ground, surrounded by SUVs and trucks, and half the time it feels like other drivers barely notice you in traffic.
That’s exactly why I decided to install the Wolfbox G900 Pro dashcam system in my ND1 Miata.
After using it for a while and dialing in the install, it’s become one of my favorite upgrades. It adds modern safety features the ND1 never came with from the factory while keeping the interior looking clean and uncluttered.
Below is why I chose it, how I installed it, and what I think after living with it.
Why I Chose the Wolfbox G900 Pro for the ND1 Miata
There are a lot of dashcams out there, but a few specific features made the G900 Pro stand out for this car.
1. It Adds a Rear Camera the ND1 Never Had
The ND1 Miata didn’t come with a factory rear camera. For a car this small, that’s a pretty noticeable omission.
The Wolfbox G900 Pro includes a rear camera that mounts at the back of the car, giving you a wide, clear view behind you through the mirror display.
It instantly modernizes the car and makes reversing or checking traffic behind you much easier.
2. Front and Rear Cameras Record Continuously
Both the front and rear cameras constantly record while you’re driving.
This is huge for a car like the Miata.
Because the car sits so low, drivers in taller vehicles often don’t see you in their mirrors. Having front and rear footage gives some real peace of mind in case anything ever happens on the road.
It’s essentially a rolling record of everything around you.
3. OEM Bracket Keeps the Interior Looking Clean
One thing I really didn’t want was a bulky dashcam hanging off the windshield.
The interior of the ND Miata is compact, and clutter can make it feel even tighter.
That’s why I paired the G900 Pro with the Wolfbox OEM-style mounting bracket.
Instead of strapping on the rearview moniter in front of the existing rearview mirror, the bracket attaches the mirror camera more cleanly in place of the factory mirror area, giving the setup a much more OEM-like appearance.
It blends in nicely and doesn’t scream aftermarket gadget.
4. 24-Hour Parking Monitoring
Another feature that sold me was the 24-hour parking monitoring mode.
With the optional hardwire kit installed, the camera can continue monitoring the car even when it’s parked.
If the system detects motion or an impact while the car is unattended, it records automatically.
For a car that’s often parked in public places, this is a great added layer of protection.
Other Features That Make the G900 Pro a Great Option
Beyond the reasons above, the G900 Pro packs in several features that make it a strong dashcam option overall.
Some highlights include:
Large mirror display that replaces your factory rearview mirror view
High-resolution front and rear cameras
Loop recording so footage is continuously saved
Night vision capability for low-light driving
Wide field of view for better road coverage
Adjustable viewing angles through the mirror touchscreen
Once installed, it feels like a factory-style digital rearview mirror with built-in dashcam functionality.
Installation Experience
Installation was fairly straightforward, especially with the OEM bracket and hardwire kit.
The basic process looked like this:
Mount the mirror camera using the OEM bracket
Route the rear camera wiring to the back of the car
Install the rear camera near the license plate area
Hardwire the system to the fuse box for parking mode
Tuck all wiring behind trim panels for a clean finish
I’ll include my full install walkthrough below if you want to see the step-by-step process.
One Small Issue I Ran Into
After the initial install, I noticed something minor.
Because the Miata chassis transfers a lot of vibration, the rearview mirror display had very small micro-vibrations while driving.
It wasn’t a deal breaker, but it was noticeable.
My solution was simple.
I added a small windshield suction support clamp behind the mirror to give the unit a second support point.
Once I added that extra support, the display became perfectly stable.
Problem solved.
My Final Rating
After the original install, I would have rated the setup:
4 / 5 stars
But after adding the extra support clamp and dialing everything in, the system feels rock solid.
So my updated rating is:
4.8 / 5
For the price and the functionality it adds, it’s a really solid upgrade for the ND Miata.
Final Thoughts
If you drive a small car like the ND Miata, having front and rear camera coverage adds a lot of peace of mind.
The Wolfbox G900 Pro brings modern dashcam protection, a rear camera the ND1 never had, and useful features like parking monitoring without cluttering the interior.
With the OEM bracket and hardwire kit installed, it integrates nicely and feels like something the car could have come with from the factory.
Coming in at just under $400 for the whole set up; I think it’s a great value for all the features that you get. If you’re considering adding a dashcam to your Miata, this is definitely one worth looking into.
